Who We Are

How We Started….

The “9th Street Gang” was established in May 2003 by
car lovers to share friendship and to travel together
to car shows around the state.  Butch and Jim
Randolph, JD Ramsey and Leroy Johns started meeting on
Tuesday evenings at Leroy’s Automotive Service at 2218
West Ninth Street in Marion to decide which  shows
they would attend the following weekend.

Susie Randolph is credited for naming the group.  At
her mother’s funeral, several of the car people were
at the back of the room and when Susie looked up and
saw them, she told her sister “they are just the 9th
Street Gang” and so the name evolved.

Glee Berryhill, Dave Daugherty, Mike O’Banion and Ron
Roehr signed up right away because they were already
cruisin with us to the shows.

Since the members go to a large number of shows, it
did not take long for the car world to find out there
was a new club in town.  Because of the members’
dedication to the sport of cruising, the membership
roster is growing continuously.

The 9th Street Gang meets once a week in the summer
months on Thursday evening to discuss which shows they
will attend the following weekend.  There are no
officers and no dues.  The only requirement is to
promote the spirit of cruising and fellowship with
friends.
